Location
Kamieńczyk on the Bug River
Kamieńczyk is situated in the Mazovian Voivodeship, Wyszków County, within the municipality of Wyszków, along the Bug and Liwiec rivers. This space was formerly referred to as Kamieniec, which explains the name "Puszcza Kamieniecka" (Kamieniec Forest).
The Kamieniec Forest features a diverse landscape and unique terrain. It includes sandy dunes, interspersed with peat bogs and a riverside terrace with a large meadow area. The forest is primarily composed of pine and oak trees. The forested area on the left bank of the Bug River is an excellent place to catch your breath and find balance.
The vicinity of the rivers provides an excellent space for anglers and kayakers. The Bug River is one of Europe's wildest rivers and is solely used for recreational purposes. In such surroundings, you can admire the fauna and flora in their natural setting.

A Bit of History
Kamieńczyk is a village now, but its history is exceptional.
In the past, precisely in the year 1428, the village obtained town rights and became a royal city of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. It was during this time that the city developed and took on increasingly important roles. In the past, Kamieńczyk had a castle, a town hall, cloth halls, three churches, and a monastery.
Due to its location as a city, particularly its proximity to rivers, eight mills, a river port, and a customs chamber were built here. The city had over 300 brick houses, which indicated a solid infrastructure.
The decline of the city began in the 17th century. It was mainly caused by the crisis resulting from an uncertain economic situation, as well as the destruction caused by the Swedish wars. In the 19th century, the inhabitants turned to agriculture and summer rafting. The city was downgraded to a village in 1869 as a result of repression following the January Uprising.
During World War II, Kamieńczyk suffered greatly. It was almost entirely burned down, but the urban layout with a rectangular market square and the neo-Gothic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary survived. This church was built according to the design of Józef Pius Dziekoński between 1896 and 1900.
What's worth visiting, what's worth seeing:
- The Historical-Ethnographic Museum in Kamieńczyk is dedicated primarily to the history of rafting, which was so important for these areas. The owner shares beautiful stories there.
- The Flisak Monument by Elżbieta Pietras is located in the market square of Kamieńczyk, as this used to be a hub for rafting.
- The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kamieńczyk is an example of neo-Gothic architecture. The wooden bell tower dates back to 1885.

- The Kamieniecka Forest at any time of the year.
